The Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District (BID) board of directors announced August 18th that Michelle Haider, former Senior Meeting & Event Services Manager at VISIT Milwaukee, has been named executive director of the Village BID. “We are pleased and excited to announce that Michelle Haider has agreed to serve as the new executive director of the Village BID,” said Chris Leffler, chairman of the BID board of directors and owner of Leff’s Lucky Town.
A lifelong Wisconsinite, Michelle joined the VISIT Milwaukee team in 2011. Since then, she’s worked with hundreds of national conventions and events, and managed internal events for VISIT Milwaukee, resulting in millions in economic impact for the region.
“Michelle brings experience and knowledge of how to market a destination to visitors and work with a municipality to get things done,” said Leffler. “Her abilities will be a great asset to this position and we are certain she will help sustain and enhance the past success of the Village BID.”
“The Village of Wauwatosa is a thriving community, the heart of the city, and I am excited to be a part of it,” said Michelle. “The growth that has happened in this neighborhood over the past decade is inspiring and I am honored to be working with the business owners, residents, and city officials to continue moving forward.”
Haider is taking over for Jim Plaisted, who served as Executive Director for 4 years before recently moving on to take over the same position in the Historic Third Ward Association. “Jim did a great job in his time here with the Village BID. He really cultivated a strong foundation for Michelle to build upon and we wish him all the best in the Third Ward,” noted Leffler.
